Moldavite - A Rare and Beautiful Gemstone

Moldavite is a fascinating and beautiful gemstone. It is one of the rarest minerals on earth, as it is only found in a few limited areas in the south of the Czech Republic.

Why this is so is the subject of much debate, but the most feasible explanation is that it was formed some 14.7 million years ago as the result of  meteorites collision with the earth in an area of present day Germany a few hundred kilometres to the west of southern Bohemia, forming the Ries crater, and projecting molten rock eastwards. The molten rock solidified as it travelled back to earth, forming a natural glass which fell into an area of the Vlatava river valley (in German the Moldau river, hence the name Moldavite), where it is still found today, albeit in ever-decreasing quantities.

Moldavite is a natural glass belonging to the tektite family. Apart form its beautiful appearance, it is prized by healers and collectors for its remarkable metaphysical properties, and many people can feel its powerful vibrations simply by holding it in the hand or placing on the forehead.

This beautiful green mineral exists in various shapes, the most prized of which are the leaf shapes from Besednice and the drop shapes from Chlum. The more perfect the shape and the bigger the specimen, the more valuable it is. Moldavite is also found in irregular shapes which are used for cutting into cabochons and faceted gemstones, for use in jewellery. Moldavite can vary from a dull pale green to a beautiful intense green, and from opaque to the most stunning translucence, and its beauty is best appreciated when the stone is viewed against the light.

Cut moldavite often contains visible natural gas bubbles, and gems with bubble inclusions are very sought-after. The bubbles were formed before the material solidified nearly 15 million years ago.

Moldavite is one of the most collectable of gemstones because of the infinite variety of shapes produced as it solidified on its way through the atmosphere before landing on earth. Some shapes and colours are more beautiful and desirable than others, but all have their own fascination for the collector. Being a relatively soft substance of around 6/10 on the Mohs scale, faceted and cabochon stones are best set as pendants and earrings to avoid damage, but moladavite rings are also very beautiful and can be worn provided the wearer exercises due care.

Rhodochrosite. Sizable quantities of this mineral are found in Agrgentina,Franc,the USA and the USSR. The name come Greek words rhodon ,for “rose,”and Chros for “color,” in reference to the rose-red color of the mineral. Traditionally, rhodochrosite is use to prevent mental breakdown and extreme emotional trauma.

Q. How is this mineral used for healing and spiritual growth?

” The forces of this mineral are centralized upon the kidney, pancreas, and spleen. Placement upon this point along the vertbrae also stimulates healing. Appy this elixir in the prediabetic state and to detoxify the kidneys.

Q. Several people have asked me about alleviating narcolepsy. Can you recommend other preparations? “Generally used gem elixirs and flower essence associated whit the heart and base chakra, such as tiger’s eye.

“Rhodochrosite attunes people to the androgynous state naturaly inherent in each individual. When used in a bath, add eight drops to the water. Wear it by the wrist, especially by the pulse point. For external use, apply it with almond and cottonseed oils. Amplification is achieved by exposure of the elixir or mineral to the color orange for eight minutes while upon a crystal base. Then place the elixir or mineral inside a pyramid for thirty minutes. It is surprising that such a popular and powerful mineral has so little folklore associated with it.”

Q. Can you explain more on how you create your Crystal Energy Fields ?

To harness the power of the crystals is no simple task. Despite their superior power, they need to be “readied” for their tasks. They need to be “treated” properly, systematically and need to be provided with logistics. Just like Computers. Computers have super power, but are useless without the relevant Software. Here the Crystals are Computers and I am the Programmer. I create custom “Software” for operating the Crystals.

It’s a long and meticulous process - right from diagonising the client’s problems, wish lists, anticipated troubles, it goes right through to judging the crystal power needed for that particular customer/problem, calculating the number of crystals, selecting the right crystal varieties, exact crystal shapes - just like choosing the right computer configuration - not only for the current needs but also for the future requirements.

Some Brazilian amethysts can be found in cavities within in a black volcanic rock (melaphyre) whilst others can be found as pebbles in the river gravels amongst other minerals as companions. Traditionally included in the most valuable gemstones (along with diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds), amethyst’s haves lost much of their value due to the discovery of extensive deposits in the Brazilian locations. Today, due to this plentiful supply, amethyst’s have become a lovely and affordable gemstone that is fortunately available in a wide variety of cut and uncut stones that we can all possess and admire.

Amethyst is one gemstone that is believed to have many metaphysical properties that are favorable to human beings, with crystal healing therapists saying that the amethyst has a sobering and cleansing effect on the body and calming qualities which allows the stone to be associated with peace. Amethyst can also assist with the reduction of addictive behaviours, such as alcohol, drugs, smoking and other compulsive type behaviours. It has been known to have a relieving effect on stress, grief, depression and emotional despair.
