When the geodes are ready the rock is blasted away and the undamaged rocks are collected and a small whole is drilled so that the interior can be viewed. The rocks are cut open and the individual geodes are harvested into smaller piece for use in the gem market. many of the rocks are opened and displayed in their original formation.
